After 16 weeks of age, dogs with unknown vaccination history will require two DA2PPV vaccines, 3 weeks apart.  After which a booster is given one year later, and every 3 years thereafter.  Rabies vaccine protocol remains as above. 

For 24 hours following a vaccine, always monitor for adverse reactions, which may include:

facial swelling, breathing difficulty, extreme restlessness, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse.

Please carefully monitor your pet after it’s vaccinations for any of these signs and let us know if they are observed.  If it’s after hours, please contact the Animal Emergency Center, 1220 Airways @ Edgemere, 545-1148.

*High risk cats include those that are exposed to any outdoor cats- including housemates. 

Cats older than 16 weeks of age, with unknown vaccination history, will require two RCP and two FeLV vaccines, 4 weeks apart.  After which an RCP booster is given one year later, and every 3 years thereafter.  The FeLV booster is repeated yearly thereafter for all high-risk cats.  Rabies vaccine protocol remains as above.

ALL ferrets will receive a diphenhydramine injection 15-20 minutes PRIOR to the vaccine being given.  The owner is asked to remain at the clinic for an additional 20-30 minutes AFTER the vaccine is given to observe for any vaccine reaction symptoms.  Please continue to observe your ferret for 24 hours following the vaccination for any reaction symptoms.

After 16 weeks of age, ferrets with an unknown vaccination history will require two Distemper vaccines, 3 weeks apart.  After which a booster is given one year later, and every year thereafter.  Rabies vaccine is given every year thereafter.  Ferrets seen at NEVC will not receive more than 1 vaccine at a time, and they will not receive vaccines closer than 3 weeks apart. 

For 24 hours following a vaccine, always monitor for adverse reactions, which may include: facial swelling, breathing difficulty, extreme restlessness, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse.
